Department of Management Studies, formerly Department of Industrial Engineering and Management was established in 1977 and was offering M. Tech program in Industrial Engineering and Management (IE&M) as well as PhD. Keeping pace with the changing times, the MBA program was launched in 1997 and erstwhile Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (IE&M) was restructured and re-christened as Department of Management Studies offering both MTech (IE&M) and MBA programs along with the PhD. In the past department has also been part of dual degree programs in Mining, Mineral and Petroleum Management. Subsequently they launched MBA in Business Analytics in 2020.
