Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas

Dulaang UP was founded in 1976 by the esteemed National Artist and Professor Emeritus Antonio Tony O. Mabesa, making it the foremost academic theater organization in the country. Initially serving as the production arm of the University of the Philippines Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts (DSCTA), it has since evolved into a semi-professional group with a regular season. Dulaang UP has provided a platform for seasoned theater artists to express their creative visions and engage with theater students through productions helmed by veteran directors such as Anton Juan, Amiel Leonardia, Alexander Cortez, Josefina Estrella, Dexter Santos, and the late Behn Cervantes, Ogie Juliano, and Tony Mabesa. Through their productions, audiences in Metro Manila have been privileged to witness masterpieces from the global repertoire, including works by Shakespeare, Brecht, Ibsen, Chekhov, Moliere, Wilde, Williams, Miller, Lorca, and Strindberg, among others.
