Economics Study Center (ESC) is the pioneer official student chapter of the Department of Economics, University of Dhaka. ESC represents the entire student body of the Department, and is responsible for promoting economic thinking and facilitating relevant programs. Economics Study Center was established in 1973. It is fully patronized by the Department and run by its students with the active engagement of its faculty members. Dr. Sajjad Zohir, a prominent economist, was the foremost person in establishing the organization. Professor M. M. Akash and Dr. Mahmud Khan subsequently elevated the organization to a new level with their dynamic activities and policy debates. To this day, the Center has kept up its tradition of helping brilliant young minds intertwine and crafting the leaders of tomorrow.
