EduTutorVA

Addressing Achievement Gaps and Nurturing the Teacher Pipeline: EduTutorVA was established in 2020 to address the growing learning gaps affecting Virginias historically underserved students. During the school closures necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic, these education gaps increased dramatically for students in Title 1 schools- public schools with low-income designations, and in particular- students of color. EduTutorVA pairs these students at-risk of falling further behind with tutors selected from local colleges and universities for free, after school virtual tutoring in core academic areas. We follow the research model of targeted high-dosage tutoring and provide students with three 60-min sessions per week, in groups no larger than three. Relationship-building and social-emotional support is at the core of each tutoring relationship.
