Three decades and two generations of experience and passion go into every smiling face and mouth watering bite that make-up El Chaparral. Our family history is etched into everything we do. In 1972, our parents, Charlie and Mary Garcia, followed their dream to a small eatery in Helotes, Texas. We sold our home in San Antonio and moved into the modest living quarters behind the restaurant. Some of our earliest memories are playing in the kitchen with our older sister Jessica and swimming in the creek behind the restaurant. As Mom managed the books, Papa focused on developing a menu that would keep customers coming back. Drawing from Tex-Mex roots and Latin inspirations, our reputation was born. Our little family business blossomed into a local dining sensation. Still, though we have grown considerably, there is no compromise on the quality that comes out of kitchens.
