El Pitazo

In a scenario in which the limitations on citizen freedoms are increased, expressed in access to information and freedom of expression, El Pitazo emerges, a multiplatform medium that fights against censorship, that says what others are silent, with presence in 20 states and 27 cities of Venezuela. El Pitazo, founded in July 2014, is aimed at sectors D and E of the population, social strata in which, in todays Venezuela, access to plural and balanced information is reduced, due to the penetration of official media or of official tendency. Through a text messaging service, presentation of audiovisual stories in communities in the country and a radio program, El Pitazo tries to change this imbalance. Only thanks to SMS, 2,500,000 users receive weekly written or audiovisual reports.
