The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Sohag University was established by Presidential Decree No. 324 in 2007, and officially began its academic activities in 2008 following the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities in its session No. 491 held on Sunday, September 7, 2008. Initially, the faculty operated from a building at the old campus of Sohag University. In July 2016, it was relocated to a new building at the universitys new campus in the city of Al-Kawamel.
