What sets Family Tree Nursery apart is our passion for plants; a passion that began 50 years ago when a young dental student followed his passion and transferred to the horticulture program at Kansas State University. Ron Nelson opened the doors of the first store at 85th Street and Farley as a wholesale growing facility providing other outlets with high-quality gift plants, like Poinsettias and Mums in 1964. This love for plants has since evolved into three retail locations; with the acquisition of the Shawnee store in 1981 and Liberty location in 1988 joining the Overland Park location. We are also proud to say in 1986 we added our growing facility, with over 6 acres of covered greenhouses to grow our award-winning mums, poinsettias, perennials, bedding plants and hanging baskets and deliver them daily to our stores.
