Established in 1953, Floroma Old Aged Home exists to provide safe accommodation for golden oldies not catered for by the for-profit retirement village industry. It was originally established for the aged from Florida, Roodepoort and Maraisburg (and thats where the name came from FLOrida ROodepoort MAraisburg). However, over the decades this geographic focus was expanded to include people from all over South Africa. Floroma is registered as an NPO with the NPO directorate, with the registration number 002 011 NPO. The independent living section consists of 74 cottages, 11 of which can accommodate couples.
