The Fraunhofer Project Group for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS with locations in Alzenau and Hanau was founded in 2011 by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft under the umbrella of the Fraunhofer ISC. Since April 8, 2019, it has been run as an independent research institution under the name Fraunhofer IWKS.
