Most of the language systems are based on Unicode and Unicode allots only 128 characters per language. In Indian languages, the average number of combinations are about 15,000 per language. Through Unicode, there is data loss and compromised construction of the language vis-a-vis Indian languages. In font-based systems, there is no standardization within the developer community. For instance, text created in a particular font cannot be opened in another font of the same language. In view of this, data exchange today is a major challenge.
