GIZ Uganda

The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Gmbh is a German federal company for technical cooperation that has been operating in Uganda since 1964 to promote sustainable development on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). GIZ advises and supports Uganda in its effort to strengthen three core areas: 1) Peaceful and inclusive societies, focusing on Good Governance and displacement and migration 2) Transformation of agri-food systems, focusing on Rural Development and Agriculture 3) Climate and Energy, just transition focusing on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, and Climate Adaptation/Partnership and Climate Resilience The fundamental principles for the German-Uganda development cooperation are good governance in the areas of transparency and accountability, adherence to human rights, including the rights of vulnerable and minority groups and support to civil society.
