The highest volume liquor store chain in North Texas began in Dallas when Joe Jansen purchased Goo Goo Liquors in 1964. At the time, the store, located on Lower Greenville Avenue, was a meager 15-by-50 feet wide. To save $600 on new signage, Jansen was able to change the name of the store by simply adding dy to the original name. Over the past five decades, Goody Goody has established an excellent reputation based on grand selection, low pricing, and old-fashioned customer service. In fact, by the time Goody Goody opened its second location in 1974, it was noted as the largest liquor store in the state.
