Gram Bharti

Gram Bharti is a grassroot voluntary organisation that has been working towards inclusive rural reconstruction for creating a more sustainable and just society, following in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi and his vision of Gram Swaraj. Gram Bharti is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1962 by a group of social activists who were inspired by the teachings of Gandhi, Vinoba, and Jay Prakash Narayan. The organization started with a small group of 17 families from the tribal community in Goplamaran, Bihar. Today, Gram Bharti has expanded its activities to as many as 750 villages, positively impacting over 30,000 families. Gram Bharti has been working tirelessly to create self-reliant villages without poverty and injustice since 1962. Our work spans across different thematic areas in 750 villages of 12 districts in Bihar which have created an impact in lives of 1M+ people.
