Greek National Commission for Human Rights

The GNCHR is the independent advisory body to the State on matters pertaining to human rights protection. It has been established and is functioning in accordance with the UN Paris Principles. Its members are nominated by institutions whose activities cover the field of human rights: NGOs, trade unions, independent authorities, universities, bar associations, political parties, Parliament and the dministration. The GNCHRs main mission is to monitor and raise awareness on HR developments, to conduct research and formulate policy advices on HR issues and to promote HR education. In its mission, GNCHR cooperates with national and international institutions active in the field of HR protection and has established networks with international organizations and NHRIs of other States.
