Green Iowa AmeriCorps

Empowering Iowa for a greener future through service, education and engagement Operated through the University of Northern Iowas Center for Energy and Environmental Education, Green Iowa AmeriCorps is a state-wide community service program. Our program was founded in 2009 to address conservation and sustainable usage of energy resources in several Iowa communities as they struggled to rebuild from the devastating floods of 2008. Since then, Green Iowa AmeriCorps has expanded to serve communities all across the state. Our members are placed with non-profits, school districts and government agencies to build their capacity to do environmental work in Iowa. Members have the opportunity to receive various trainings while in service with us, from energy auditing, to prescribed burn, to volunteer management training, and so much more.
