Greensboro Symphony Orchestra

The roots of the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra (GSO) extend back to the 1920s when a group of musicians at Womans College (now UNCG) banded together under the direction of Henry Fuchs. After formally organizing as the Greensboro Orchestra in 1939, the Symphony gained considerable public support and began operating as an independent, critically acclaimed musical organization. In 2003, the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra (GSO) entered an exciting new era, welcoming Dmitry Sitkovetsky, world-renowned violinist and conductor, as its new Music Director. Russian-born Sitkovetsky is currently Principal Guest Conductor of the Russian State Symphony in Moscow and is Conductor Laureate of the Ulster Orchestra.
