Hamidullah

In the 19th century, Hindus and Sikhs were at the forefront of business operations of Peshawars famous Andar Shehr Bazaar. It was during these times that a young Muslim, Pathan named Rahimullah Khan inaugurated the very first jewellery outlet within the walled city. His work ethic and favourable measures to enhance the market got him elected as the chief spokesman, earning an informal title of Chowdhry, leader in Hindko and Punjabi, the then local languages. He died in 1950 leaving behind his expertise and business knowledge to his sons Hamidullah Khan and Hafeezullah Khan. The younger of the two brothers established an even bigger jewellery business under the title of M. Hamidullah Khan Jewellers in Sarafa Bazaar. Leaving the business in the hands of his brother, Hamidullah Khan demised in 1981. Hafeezullah Khan inaugurated the M. Hafeezullah Khan Jewellers, a subsequent brand in 1982.
