Hampshire County Councils Countryside Service inspires people to connect with and enjoy the countryside, while making space for nature to thrive. Our ambition is that every person in Hampshire will have a life-long active and emotional connection with the outdoors, a love of nature, and a desire to protect and support its recovery. As a service, we are responsible for the management of 7,400 acres of land for wildlife, 80 sites, 71 heritage features and almost 3,000 miles of rights of way public access. We work with local landowners to manage, protect and improve public footpaths, bridleways and byways for the publics benefit. We also work to protect and conserve Hampshires indigenous wildlife and its rich heritage, through our nature recovery initiatives.
