Harrogate Neighbours

Our story begins back in the late 1960s. The churches throughout Harrogate wanted to provide a care home for local elderly people who needed support but could not afford private care. They formed a charity and registered it as Harrogate Neighbours Housing Association, the name we still use today. In early 1969, the charity purchased a property in Harrogate town centre and Heath Lodge was formed. The property was altered and extended and in December 1970 the first residents moved in. Within a month, all 30 rooms were filled. In 1976, a second property was purchased and developed. The work on Greenfield Court was completed in 1978. Both properties provided a high level of service for Harrogates elderly people and continue to do so today.
