Dr. Wei He,MD,PhD, after receiving his education at Kyushu University in Japan, has returned to China with a vision to establish an eye care system that provides high quality, genuine, and sustainable eye care to people in China. Founded in 1995, He Eye Care System (HECS) has become a comprehensive eye care system after 20 years of hard work and strong development. Today, HECS is composed of seven major eye hospitals, fifty vision centers, an undergraduate university educating 8,000 students, and a translational research industry to serve the people in China. Started from a small eye clinic in 1995, there are now 7 He Eye Hospitals located in Liaoning Province in China to serve the local population. In 2013, the National Health and Family Planning Committee acknowledged HECS as the Key National Specialty Organization.
