Helping Hand House

Helping Hand House was founded in 1984 to ensure that no family in our community would go without a home. When families feel safe and are supported, they can begin the work of re-building their lives. The number of homeless families continues to grow in our area, fed by inadequate housing, poverty, family violence, untreated mental illness and addiction, and poor economic conditions. One missed paycheck, a serious illness, or divorce can tip the balance between having a home and being homeless. We work to ensure that everyone has a chance to participate fully in community life. Our services foster self-respect, self-sufficiency, and stability. These elements are fundamental for family prosperity. Our programs require families to engage fully in the work of making permanent changes in their lives that will result in family health, permanent housing, and sufficient income.
