Founded in 1887 by Rudolph Joseph Henne, the owners reputation as a superior watch repairman helped the business to prosper and grow through the early part of the Twentieth Century. In 1934, Rudolph Gerard Henne inherited the business from his father. Keeping the business afloat through both the Great Depression and World War II proved challenging, but, despite some tough times, Rudolph kept the business going and passed it on to his son, John (Jack) Henne in 1975. In 1978, Jack moved the store from its original location in Pittsburghs East Liberty section to the fashionable Shadyside neighborhood.
