As a caring municipality, we continuously strive to deliver quality service to our residents and visitors. Service delivery of a high standard is the cornerstone of a successful municipality and can only be achieved by highly motivated employees who take responsibility for their own tasks, as well as a collective responsibility for all local government functions. Our achievements include 6 consecutive clean audit reports (2013/2014; 2014/2015; 2015/2016; 2016/2017; 2017/2018; 2018/2019), 1st municipality in South Africa to have all six beaches feature in the Blue Flag Programme, Greenest Municipality in the Western Cape 2015 and 2016, as well as 3rd Greenest Municipality in South Africa in 2016. The name Hessequa, meaning people of the trees, refers to the tribe of Khoikhoi people that used to live in the region.
