In 1966, Dr. Ghassan Hammoud a German trained Surgeon, Obstetrician & Gynecologist; established Hammoud Hospital in his native city of Saida, the third largest city in Lebanon located 40 km (29 miles) south of the capital Beirut. The hospital began as a 20-bed maternity facility.
