Child abuse is a critical issue that has long been neglected in the Arab world where child labour, child prostitution and early marriage still occur regularly. An alarming 2008 local study conducted by the Ministry of Social Affairs, KAFA & Save the Children Sweden, showed that 1 out of 6 children in Lebanon are victims of sexual abuse. himaya was born on with the vision of making child protection a right, everywhere. himayas mission is to promote an environment suitable for the development of children and ensure their global protection via fighting and preventing abuse on Lebanese ground. We identify 4 types of abuse: - Physical abuse - Psychological abuse - Sexual abuse - Neglect himaya strives for a change on a national level in order to better the lives of children in Lebanon and covers the entire Lebanese territory including Beirut, Mount Lebanon, the North, the South and the Bekaa.
