HitraMat AS

HitraMat AS is located at Hitra Fiskerihavn which is the largest catch area for crabs in Norway, with great environmental benefits such as clean air and clean sea water. This helps to provide very good conditions for crab and helps to give Hitra crab an amazing quality. It is a very short distance from the fishing areas to the production on Kuya. Hitra is an island in Trnderlag which has a long tradition concerning fishing and the production of edible crab. It has since 1930 been run crab and production of crab. During the season, from June to December, crab fishermen deliver crabs of superior quality. In 2012, 3 150 tons of edible crab were processed in HitraMat AS, Europes most modern factory for crabs, built in 2002.
