HKCTA is a non-profit organisation and the national sporting body for tennis in Hong Kong, recognised by both the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Asian Tennis Federation (ATF). HKCTA currently has more than 40 affiliated member clubs and over 4000 individual members. HKCTA meets its primary objectives through the organisation of a number of local and international tennis events as well as junior and elite development programmes, a corporate training scheme, coaching certification courses, a Tennis-For-All open enrollment programme, and a mini-tennis initiative for young children, amongst other initiatives. The Hong Kong Lawn Tennis Association was formed in 1909 by a small group of tennis enthusiasts from recreation clubs in the region, changing to its current name of Hong Kong Tennis Association (HKTA) in 1984.
