HOPE Housing is a not-for-profit fund manager. We help Australian essential service workers own a better home, sooner and closer to their place of work. Over recent years, the Australian housing market has become increasingly unaffordable. In major cities like Sydney and Melbourne, property is out of reach for many middle-income workers, including essential service workers. These are people whose occupations support the critical functioning of society (for example, teachers, nurses and emergency service personnel). Essential service workers are typically employed on fixed, low to moderate wages, which are often insufficient to afford property near their place of work. The result is a lot of renting, moving around and long commute times. HOPE Housing seeks to address this challenge of housing affordability with a commercial solution.
