House of An is a portfolio of restaurants all featuring the fusion cuisine of Smithsonian-recognized Master Chef Helene Mama An. The company began with Thanh Long in San Francisco, which opened in 1971, bringing Euro-Vietnamese food to the city the first to bring Vietnamese cuisine to mainstream America. When Crustacean San Francisco opened, in 1991, the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper called it the first Asian fusion restaurant, and dubbed Helene An the Mother of Fusion. In 1997, Helenes daughter Elizabeth An took created their first luxury location by opening the fine dining, Crustacean Beverly Hills, which quickly attracted raves reviews in national press and a sizable celebrity clientele. In 2009, House of An opened AnQi, a gourmet bistro inside South Coast Plaza adjacent to Bloomingdales.
