Hunan Peoples Publishing House (HPPH), founded in January 1951, is a comprehensive press with its stress on the publication of books of philosophy and social science. The House consists of 10 editorial departments dealing with political theory, publicity and education, law, literature and history, teaching materials, copyright and so on. It brings out more than 800 titles each year. HPPH aims to expand the Chinese culture and display the style and feature of the present age with elite publications. In recent years, it has won more than ten kinds of high grade book prizes, such as the National Book Prize, the Five One Project conferred by the Central Propaganda Department of CPC and the China Book Prize.
