The Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary (FM), formerly lead by Dr. Sandor Fazekas, is responsible for a range of specialised areas. The Ministrys main goals are the sustainability and management of natural resources, the diversity of rural land use, and rural development. Improving quality of life for rural communities and increasing the competitiveness of the agricultural, food production and rural economies are basic preconditions for improving the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy as a whole. This goal requires a reinforcement of the rural and local economies and communities, as well as the expansion of job opportunities and income generation.
