Welcome to the Hunter Colleges School of Education, founded in 1870 as New York Citys first teacher-preparation school. Our School of Education is dedicated to the preparation of deeply thoughtful, knowledgeable and highly effective teachers, administrators and counselors and to the advancement of scholarship that will improve knowledge about and the conditions of our communities. We approach these purposes with a shared belief that the promise of education to improve lives cannot be accomplished without addressing existing societal inequities and injustices. Under the leadership of President Jennifer J. Raab, the President of Hunter College, SOE faculty, staff and students make significant contributions to lives of individuals, families and communities.
