Istanbul Deniz Otobusleri A.S. was founded in 1987 by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in order to provide alternate commuting services for Istanbulites. Before IDO city s sea transportation service provided by State owned Turkish Maritime Organization Inc. Started off with 10 seabuses purchased from Norway IDO quickly became symbol of fast and confortable commute in Istanbul. Between 1988 and 1997 number of vessels have reached twenty with inclusion 7 sea buses,two fast ferries and for the first time a high speed seabus built by a Turkish shipping yard. IDO continue to launch new services connecting both sides of The Sea Of Marmara such as Yenikap (Istanbul)- Yalova , Yenikap (Istanbul)- Bandrma..
