Our company was initially established in 1959 as a small hardware store in Famagusta, Cyprus. Consequently, the first import took place in 1960. After our founder was killed during the inter-communal strife in Cyprus in 1963, his only son, Ilkay Genc, took over the company. Since 1963, the company has grown to become one of the biggest building materials importers and sellers in North Cyprus. It is among the few leading Turkish Cypriot companies which established the first trade relations with Turkey via importing and wholesaling Turkish construction products. Today, Ilkay M. Genc Ltd. imports 20,000 different kinds of goods ranging from construction materials, hardware and hand tools to paint bath and ceramics from 150 different companies in 15 countries and sells them in its four different branches located in the major cities of Famagusta, Nicosia and Kyrenia.
