The Imperial Group is a major player in the scrap metal industry, strategically expanding its business over the past 30 years. Originating as a small family-owned industrial recycling company in 1962, Imperial Group has grown to become a multi-faceted organization headquartered in Chicago. Over the years, the group has made significant strides in expanding its reach in the industry. In 1995, Imperial Group acquired Imperial Zinc Corporation, a leading manufacturer of zinc anodes and alloys. It has since expanded its operations into aluminum by acquiring two secondary aluminum smelters operating under the Imperial Aluminum name and Kormet Metals, an aluminum brokerage business that supplies various mills.
