Founded in 1910, the Institut francais du Royaume-Uni exists to promote French language and culture and to encourage cross-cultural exchange. Comprising a language centre, a cinema (Cine Lumiere), a multi-media library (La Mediatheque) a childrens library (Bibliotheque Quentin Blake) and a cafe-restaurant, it offers a wide range of events and activities, from film screenings and festivals to concerts and talks and welcomes thousands of people each year.
