Founded as a branch of The National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences, we are dedicated to research in microorganisms, plant and animal biology. We combine traditional and modern molecular biology methods in studying biodiversity and developing strategies for a sustainable exploitation of resources. This involves studies of ecology, taxonomy, and phylogeny on cyanobacteria, algae, invertebrates, and higher plants.
