Institute of National Remembrance

Institute of National Remembrance Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation is the largest scientific and archival institution operating in the Republic of Poland. The tasks of the Institute include collecting and managing documents of state security organs from the years 1944-1990, conducting investigations into Nazi and communist crimes, as well as conducting scientific research and in the field of public education. The statutory task of the Institute of National Remembrance is also searching for the resting places of people who died in the fight for independence and the unification of the Polish State, who died in the fight against the totalitarian system or as a result of totalitarian repressions and ethnic cleansing in 1917-1990.
