Internationales Maritimes Museum Hamburg

The International Maritime Museum is housed in the heritage listed building, Kaispeicher B. Three thousand years worth of maritime history are displayed on nine decks with precious exhibits, model ships and paintings. The museum is managed by the private nonprofit Peter Tamm Sen. Foundation. The museum displays the largest private maritime collection in the world, the Peter Tamm Collection. Our aim is to give a comprehensive narrative of the Maritime History of Humanity. The International Maritime Museum of Hamburg starts with the story of a little boy who grew up to become an avid collector of all things nautical. Throughout his life, Peter Tamm (1928 - 2016) collected everything having to do with maritime history. As a young child, Peters mother always brought him a gift when he was sick and had to stay in bed a miniature ship. And so his collectors passion was sparked.
