Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners. IOM formally joined the United Nations system in 2016 and became the UN Migration Agency. IOM is present in more than 100 countries and has over 590 Country Offices and Sub-offices worldwide.
