Joao Pereira Fernandes opened in 1933 his own company having as its main activity the weaving. The company soon developed and in 1964 its owner decided to move the company for its current location maintaining the same line of business. At the beginning of 1969 the company became a limited company using the name J. Pereira Fernandes & Filhos, Lda. In 1970 the company started comprising all the stages of fabrics production: spinning, weaving, dyeing, finishing and production. At that time the target market was Africa. Meantime with Angola, Guine and Mozambique independence the market suffered some changes and came out several problems such as the funds transfer. Due to this, the company was forced to aim at new markets. J. Pereira Fernandes had to adapt its products to these new markets and today has great success among then.
