Kaluzny Bros., Inc. (KBI) is a family-owned and operated rendering company committed to delivering sustainable recycling solutions to their customers and the environment. KBI was founded in 1946 after World War II where three brothers from Illinois had served in the U.S. Army. While three brothers served, one sibling was turned away as his experience in rendering fats and oils was an essential, high-demand skill needed on the home front. Rendering was vital to the war effort as tallow and other oils were used to make specialty products such as nitroglycerin what went into explosives. Upon returning from the war, the four brothers joined together to start their rendering business in Joliet, Illinois. Since its founding over 75 years ago, Kaluzny Bros., has safely recycled, in a bio-secure manner, over 300,000,000 pounds of inedible bones, fat, offal, and greases every year.
