Karas Wines

It all started with 2300 hectares of land in the mountainous Armavir province of northwestern Armenia. Located at an altitude of about 1100 meters above the sea level, the mineral-rich, volcanic and basalt soil of the region provided the perfect climate for growing grapes for wine. In 2010, after much research, we transformed over 400 hectares of our land in Armavir to become the setting for the vineyards that would later produce our wines. Karas Wines is the first commercial endeavor of Tierras de Armenia. Named after the giant clay vessels used continuously in the region for winemaking since ancient times, Karas Wines represents a rebirth of regional viticulture from the land where wine began. The combination of our know-how with Armenias gorgeous terroir has been a worthy pursuit.
