Founded as one of the first privately owned banks in Poland in 1990, Kredyt Bank was the 7th bank in Poland in terms of assets at the end of 2012. Acquired several banks including Bank Ziemski w Warszawie, Wroclaw Bank, Powszechny Bank Handlowy Gecobank S.A., Bank Regionalny w Rybniku, Bank Depozytowo-Powierniczy Glob and Prosper Bank S.A. From 1994 listed on Warsaw Stock Exchange. In 1997 merged with Polski Bank Inwestycyjny SA. In 2002 KBC Group became its majority shareholder.
