Lahore is fast growing into a mega city. It was less than a million at the time of the first national Census in 1951. Its population today is estimated to be well over 10 million. Like all big cities with a high rate of growth, Lahore has its share of problems. Those who are managing its various services and facilities like Governance, Policing, education and health, water supply, sanitation, environment protection, etc, etc are greatly stressed. Their best efforts fall significantly short of the expectations of an ever demanding and growing population. The city, in a way, is in the grip of unceasing crises.
