Land Reform Commission of Sri Lanka

The history of the Land Reform Commission, which has been established under Act No 01 of 1972, goes back to the year 1972. The role of the Land Reform Commission has been fulfilled for more than 49 years in terms of the provisions of the Land Reform Act and other policy decisions taken from time to time by the Government. The priority works of the Commission are the release of statutory determinations, payment of compensation to the owners of lands, utilisation of the lands taken over for productive investments, collection of the revenue of the Commission, ensuring the protection of lands, Staff training, and welfare.
