Leadership Institute of Sarawak Civil Service

The Leadership Institute of the Sarawak Civil Service can trace its origins to the States human resource development ever since the colonial government. After independence, human resource development continued to be an important agenda, but with emphasis on the provision of training and continued education for the state civil service (SCS). Formed in 1975, the organisation was first known as State Public Service Training Centre (SPSTC) to coordinate human resource development activities for the SCS. It was later renamed as Centre for Modern Management (CMM) to reflect its new strategic role in the area of human capital development in March 1994. With a history of being a State training department before corporatisation, it had also inherited some of the values and norms of the traditional civil service.
