Lerumo was founded in 1993 as Information and Logistic Consultancy (ILC) offering services in Defence Engineering and Weapon System Management. In the 2000s, using the skills and disciplines from the defence background, the company successfully diversified the offering to the commercial sector and in particular, the telecommunications sector. This resulted in rapid growth into other geographical areas in Africa and the Middle East. In 2004 the company was rebranded as Lerumo (spear).
