Liberty Commodities Corporation

Liberty Commodities Corporation (LCC), makers of Maya hotcake and cake mixes. The Maya brand was introduced to the market in 1962. Synonymous with quality and tested by time, it has established itself as a wellloved tradition among Filipino households. Liberty Commodities Corporation is a part of the Liberty Complex, a group of companies involved in a wide range of enterprises including food processing and marketing, animal feed, agribusiness, chemicals, plastics, real estate and food service. It was organized in June 1965 as Wheat Products, Inc. This came about because of the enactment of the Retail Trade Nationalization Law, prohibiting companies with foreign stockholdings from engaging in retail sales. Since Liberty Flour Mills (LFM) fell under this category, its Filipino shareholders decided to organize a marketing firm to distribute LFMs wheatbased products consisting of bakery flour, cake mixes, snacks and pollard.
